Ten Head Stamp Battery at Jumperdine Rock

Ten Head Stamp Battery

The Ten Head Stamp Battery was a crucial piece of equipment in historical gold mining operations. This large, steam-driven machine used heavy steel stamps to crush ore, releasing the precious gold within. At Jumperdine Rock, near Toodyay, WA, such a battery was installed to work the new lode discoveries, which were being well proved at the time.

The creek in the area maintained from 40 to 80 alluvial miners for two years, making it a bustling hub of activity. With big orchards like Larkins' property about 3 miles away, plenty of fresh produce, and being only 50 miles from Perth, Jumperdine Rock was indeed a prospector's paradise!
